It seems that every week, someone finds another outrageous book by some celebrity. To me, it seems most of these books only got published because the author was famous in one way or another. This got me to thinking that not all books by celebs can be bad and there has to be some good literature out there. In my search, I was surprised to find several books written by Maria Shriver that all got raving reviews. There were three book that I found with topics that some people might find helpful for their final project topic. "What's wrong with Timmy?"- helps guide a response when children notice that someone looks different. "What's heaven?- which gives families a staring point to discuss the difficult subject of death. And "What's happening to Grandpa?"- which touches on the subject of Alzheimer's Disease. All three books seemed to have great reviews (but I am unsure as to how reliable these reviewers are). It's good to know that will all the "no-so-good" literature out there by celebs, there is some good out there as well.

I am so thankful for your post. I have to agree with you that I was beginning to think there has to be at least ONE celebrity out there with a good book. Since our class discussion and blog posts I feel as though the idea of books published by celebrities have been increasing (maybe this is because now I am made aware of them). Now that I know there’s a possibility of finding a quality book by a celebrity I feel more confident in searching through their selections.
I really liked your insight. I think that with all the trash that is put out there everyone in that particular group gets a bad name. Its good to know that there are some good, grounded celebrities out there who can actually contribute to society in positive matter and show another one of their talents. I hate it when someone is famous for one thing and they automatically assume that they'll be good at many other things. Its really refreshing to know that some of them actually do have more to give!!
Thanks for you post!
See you in class:)
Hello!
On the same subject! I actually have chosen a book by a celebrity for my final project. It is a series called "Hank Zipper" by Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver (Henry Winkler is Fonzie!) It is a praised series and I hope i will enjoy it too! It is about a boy with a learning disability! So hopefully you will be able to check out my blog for the final posts and be able to see how it turns out!!
Teresa
Thank you for researching the whole celebrity-author-crisis in a positive light. Between you and Teresa, you have both shown us that there is good that lies within celebrities hearts! I look forward to reading all four of these books :)
I really thought this blog was helpful. I tend to just turn away from books by celebrities, but this just goes to show that there are some worthwhile ones out there.
